No institution can be sacrificed for the sake of other: Nawaz

LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) attaches as much importance to the judiciary, as it attaches to the elected parliament, “and these two institutions cannot be sacrificed for the other,” PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday. Talking to the media after his arrival at the Dubai Airport, Nawaz said that it was his and his party’s national obligation to respect and protect both institutions with the same spirit as is enshrined in the constitution of Pakistan. He said “The PML-N had struggled for the restoration and independence of the judiciary and supremacy of parliament through restoration of democracy.” “For this purpose, we faced imprisonment and had to live in exile, but we never gave up our struggle and refused to compromise on our principled stance,” he added. He said that the people of Pakistan were jubilant when an independent judiciary was restored on March 16, 2009, as they had waited for this to happen for a long time. staff report
