Pakistan wants meaningful talks with India: FO
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit Monday said that if the Prime Ministers of Pakistan and India get an opportunity of meeting at the sideline of SAARC Summit at Bhutan, efforts would be made to restart the process of composite dialogue between the two countries.
In an interview to Geo News from Bhutan the FO Spokesman said "we would like to reactivate the engagement process if the meeting takes place".
He said that the proposed meeting may not yield the instant results but if the process of composite dialogue between the two nation is reactivated, it would be a positive development.
Pakistan has always been stressing on the need of result oriented talks between the two countries for the solution of bilateral dispute and this position would be reiterated if the meeting takes place, the spokesman said.
To a question he said that SAARC represents 1.5 billion people of the region and it was an important forum to expand cooperation between the member states in many areas.
It is a multinational organization, which provides an opportunity to the leadership to sit together and deliberate for the welfare of their people, he said.
