Shahbaz promises to guard farmers’ rights
LAHORE: Punjab’s Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has claimed that the rights of small farmers will be safeguarded at every cost.
Speaking at a high-level meeting on wheat procurement Tuesday, he said middlemen would not be allowed to exploit the farmers.
In addition, the chief minister directed the authorities to visit the provincial districts and keep a vigil on the process of wheat procurement. He warned that those involved in corruption would be taken to task.
However, he expressed his satisfaction with wheat price, distribution of bardana and arrangements made at the buying centers.
