Power shortfall nears 4000MW


KARACHI: Despite several new energy conservation initiatives taken by the government in a bid to reduce prolong power outages, no significant change has been witnessed anywhere in the country.

While the power shortfall also continues to linger around 4000MW.

According to Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO), current electricity generation in the country is 10703MW against the overall demand of 14694MW.

Eight to 12 hours of power cuts are being observed in almost all parts of the country, according to media reports.

Meanwhile, prolong and unscheduled power outages have continued to cause serious difficulties for domestic as well as industrial consumers.

In addition, anti-loadshedding protests have also been reported in some cities, including Karachi.
