Altaf denounces conspiracies against country

* MQM chief says some criminal elements want to inflame public sentiments and create law and order situation in country

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has denounced the conspiracies to incite sectarian violence and spoil law and order situation in the country, including Karachi.

In a statement on Sunday, he said that some criminal elements wanted to inflame public sentiments and create a law and order situation in the country by targeting followers of different schools of thought. Hussain said those who were targeting followers of various sects were open enemies of the country. He said these enemies of the country wanted to destabilise the country and derail democracy by disturbing the law and order situation in the country through inciting sectarian violence.

The MQM chief appealed to the religious scholars of all the schools of thought to maintain peace, harmony and brotherhood among themselves, as the holy month of Ramazan was about to start. He asked them to foil the wicked conspiracies by showing unity.

He also expressed his condolences to the bereaved family members of those who had lost their loved ones in sectarian strife.

In Quetta, Altaf demanded of President Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani and Interior Minister Malik to take stern actions against elements responsible for provoking sectarian violence and creating law and order situation in the country. He also called for immediate positive steps from the government to stop such incidents from occurring in future.

Condemns the killings of MQM workers: The MQM chief has strongly condemned the killing of two MQM workers in Sherpao Colony, Landhi. Muhammad Azim and Muhammad Dilshad were workers of MQM’s Unit 80 of Landhi Sector, a statement said on Sunday. Denouncing the killings of both the workers, Hussain demanded of president, prime minister, interior minister and Sindh chief minister to bring to book the killers.

He expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of Azim and Dilshad and extended his condolences to the bereaved family members. He also prayed for the eternal peace and divine forgiveness for the slain workers.
