US facing challenges in relations with Pakistan: Toner
WASHINGTON: US State Department has said that the US is facing challenges in relations with Pakistan, adding that to overcome these and set long-term partnership is in the strategic interest of both the countries, Geo News reported on Wednesday.This was stated by State Department spokesman Mark Toner in a press briefing.
Toner said US envoy Mark Grassman had held meetings with President of Pakistan, PM, Foreign Minister, Army and ISI Chiefs. He termed these meetings positive and said that it was vowed that interests of both the states are common and they would continue to work for these.
Spokesman Mark Toner said US envoy Mark Grossman participated in tri-partite dialogues of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the US and discussed Afghan reconciliation process, economic prosperity and other issues.
To a question Mark Toner said US diplomats in Pakistan are free to move for carring out their diplomatic duties. Pakistani has informed the US about some restricts in this regard that would be followed, he added.
