Branch lines 40/50 trains’ closure on cards
LAHORE: Railways Acting General Manager, Anjum Pervaiz has said that 40 or 50 trains of the branch lines’ closure was under consideration for overcoming the railway crisis and ensuring on time arrivals and departures of trains, Geo News reported.
Addressing a press conference at Railway Headquarter here, Anjum Pervaiz apologizing to the people for inordinate delays in the departures and arrivals of trains said that the situation would soon improve. He said that the federal government has already given its final approval to the railway relief package, which would facilitate repairs/renovation of 100 old engines, 500 passenger coaches, 650 goods wagons and 50 power vans. He said that the margin for the purchase of oil from PSO on credit has been enhanced from Rs1 billion to 2 billion.
Acting GM said that emergency has been enforced in railways. All purchases would be made directly from the relevant companies on single tender, he further said.
