PML-N to constitute committee to probe irregularities in voter lists

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to form a parliamentary committee comprised of its members to look into irregularities in NADRA voters’ lists and in the national census.
The PML-N Central Management Committee decided in a meeting on Saurday that the party would raise its voice over irregularities in the voters’ lists and the census, if any.
PML-N Senior Vice President Sartaj Azia chaired the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal, former General Secretary Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, Central Information Secretary Senator Mushahidullah Khan, MNA Abdul Qadir Baloch and Lieutenant General (r) Salahuddin Tirmzi.
On this occasion, Abdul Qadir Baloch and Salahuddin Tirmzi were also appointed as central assistant secretary-generals of the party on the directives of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif.
The meeting decided to create a central media coordination committee to convey the activities of the party to the people. The committee, which is to be headed by the central information secretary, would also include the provincial information secretaries.
It also decided to make the local representatives of the party more active, especially in the preparation of voters’ lists, which would help to identify the discrepancies in these lists.
The committee took exception to ongoing loadshedding, particularly during ‘iftar’ and ‘sehri’ timings during Ramazan, and showed concern over the failure of the government to honour its own commitment to exempt these times from loadshedding.
It also expressed concern over inoperative trains, which it believed would create problems for those people who return to their hometowns to celebrate Eid with their families.
