Govt to complete objectives of party manifesto within two years: Shah

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah presided over a high-level combined meeting of commissioners, deputy inspector generals (DIGs) of police, deputy commissioners (DCs) and senior superintendents of police (SSPs) of the Sindh province at the New Sindh Secretariat, here on Saturday.
The chief minister, while addressing the administration, stressed the need to work hard in the light of recent legislation for revival of commissionerate system, previous police procedure and laws etc.
He added that the poor masses had been neglected and it was the responsibility of the administration to devotedly work for the solution to problems confronting common man. The chief minister said that recent laws passed by the assembly reflected the aspiration of the people, and all officers have to protect and promote the policies of the government in letter and spirit.
Shah added that the government has to complete the objectives of manifesto of the party within two remaining years of tenure.
He clarified that there were only two governments in the country under the Constitution – federal government and provincial government, while there was no any district government in the province. He directed the commissioners, DIGs, DCs and SSPs to execute their authority and perform duties strictly under the law.
The chief minister maintained that the deputy commissioners and SSPs have to jointly work in the best interest of the country and they should work for the betterment, development and maintaining the rule of law in their jurisdictions so as to show the writ of the government.
He said that officers of administrations were the eyes and arms of the government, as such the DCs and SSPs should ensure that people were provided relief and justice.
With regard to recent situation during Ramazan, the chief minister added that under essential commodities, assistant commissioners had been authorised to fix the prices of essential commodities. With regard to magisterial powers, the chief minister added that provincial government through law department had moved the federal government in this connection.
Earlier, Senior Minister Education Pir Muzaharul Haq, Sindh Law Minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Home Minister Manzoor Hussain Wasan, Sindh Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah maintained that the party presented necessary bills, and necessary old laws were revived.
They stressed: “We have to make the revived system a success and hoped that all officers should devotedly follow and implement the policies and directives of the government.” They said that the government writ should be established with backing of laws and good results with prompt law and order should be ensured.
The administration was directed that educational institutions were essential for development and prosperity of any nation, as such the properties of old educational institutes be protected from land grabbers, drug mafia and other anti-social elements.
Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas and IG Police Sindh Wajid Ali Durrani assured the chief minister that the administration and police officers would devotedly work with dedication for implementing the directives and policies of the government. They assured that the changes and amendments adopted in recently passed rules and regulations would promptly be followed as per law, and officers would deliver the best for upholding the rule of law and provide relief to the people.
Later, provincial secretaries, commissioners, DIGs, deputy commissioners and SSPs highlighted some suggestions and proposals for improvements of system. Provincial ministers Pir Mazharul Haq, Agha Siraj Durrani, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Manzoor Hussain Wasan and others attended the meeting.
