Khosa for consensus on Saraiki province

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa has urged all the political leaders, including the Sharif brothers, to develop a consensus over the Saraiki province through consultation.

He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) should oppose the resolution on new province in the Punjab Assembly (PA), which was the proper platform, and not in the Speaker’s chamber.

He said this while talking to media persons, on Monday, at the residence of Pakistan Hockey Federation President and Pakistan People’s Party leader Qasim Zia after offering condolence over the death of his sister.

Khosa said that millions of rupees were being spent over the construction of fly-overs in Lahore but south Punjab, which was the agricultural belt of the province, was being ignored, hence, causing frustration among the people of Rajanpur, Layyah and other districts of the Saraiki belt.

He said that elimination of poverty, unemployment and frustration from the Saraiki region was the mission of the PPP government.

Expressing his astonishment over the ruefulness of Nawaz Sharif about the Charter of Democracy (COD), Khosa said that COD was the first democratic agreement that had been highly appreciated by the masses.

To a query, the governor said that city administration was responsible for flooded roads due to heavy rains and the rulers should also visit the low-lying areas of the city where people were facing immense problems. app
