Commission needed for new provinces: Rana
LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister, Rana Sanaullah said Thursday that presenting resolutions relating to the formation of new provinces in provincial assemblies was in conflict with the constitution, Geo News reported.
Speaking to the media outside the Punjab Assembly, Sanaullah said that resolutions in regards to provinces could be presented in the National Assembly in the form of a constitutional amendment bill.
A national commission was necessary for the formation of new provinces. He said that new provinces would not be formed just by statements being made by Babar Awan, Firdous Ashiq Awan and Raja Riaz.
An assessment of NA and Senate seats along with amendments to the NFC award and water distribution would have to be made for the formation of new provinces, he added.
