Nawaz urges youth to play role in nation building

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif, on Friday, urged younger generation to actively contribute in nation building, saying youth were a valuable asset of Pakistan. “The country is facing multiple challenges and only wise policies of the government can steer it out of the prevalent crises,” he added. Addressing a function held in connection with International Youth Day, he said, owing to advent of computer and the Internet, today’s youth had become more conscious about events around the world. The future of Pakistan was dependent on young and energetic people, he added. He recalled that in 1999, Pak rupee had a higher value than the currencies of SAARC countries while the development rate was around eight percent which, he said, was higher than any of the South Asian countries. But, he said, dictatorship had halted the national progress. “If the country had continued progress at the same pace, it would not have been facing worst load shedding and terrorism,” Nawaz observed. app
