ECC set to levy Rs 5/kg on CNG, Rs 10/kg on LPG today

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet is expected to approve today (Tuesday) imposition of Rs 5 per kilogramme levy on CNG and Rs 10 per kilogramme levy on LPG, official sources have informed.
The ECC is also expected to approve new LPG Policy and import of LNG on fast track basis to meet growing energy needs of the country.
The ECC will also review the stock position of the essential items in the country and prices of items used by common man during Ramazan. Implementation of the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package at Utility Stores would also be reviewed and decisions would be taken for its smooth implementation. The ECC will also review the latest economic data relating to federal tax collection, imports and exports, remittances, foreign exchange reserves and overall economic situation in the country. Import of fertilisers for the Kharif and Rabbi seasons 2011-12 would also be approved to meet the country’s needs.
