Situation deteriorates at Badin relief camps
BADIN: Water accumulated due to the rains has started to subside in Badin, but problems continue for affectees, Geo News reported Friday. Several relief camps have not opened because political personalities have not taken part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
In 12 villages of Badin, at least one foot of water has subsided, but several areas still remain inundated. There is shortage of medicines and other essential items at relief camps. Even relief goods accumulated by the government are yet to be distributed. Affectees in Mithi, Tharparkar have taken refuge on dunes in hope that relief will be provided to them.
Meanwhile rescue operations conducted by the army continue in affected areas. In Tando Muhammed Khan, several areas have been cleared of rainwater, while at least 2,000 people have been taken to safer ground by the Navy in Thatta.
