Nawaz for joint strategy for Karachi peace

Staff Report

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N President Nawaz Sharif, while expressing concern over the situation in Karachi, proposed on Friday that national security institutions present their intelligence reports, analysis and recommendations before the parliament.

He said that elected representatives should evolve a strategy to save the economic lifeline of the country from disaster and that the government was duty-bound to implement this strategy. He said that it was necessary for national security institutions to take parliament into confidence regarding their information, analysis and recommendations.

Nawaz Sharif stated that the Karachi situation had been far less serious during his tenure when the federal government of the Muslim League went to the extent of dismissing its own government in Sindh when it proved itself unsuccessful in coping with the situation.
