Punjab governor says peace must be restored in Karachi

LAHORE: Peace in Karachi must be restored at any cost and people had to work together to overcome the crisis, Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa said on Monday. Talking to the media at the residence of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Lahore Secretary, Akbar Khan, in Muslim Town, he said that purging the port city of illegal weapons was the need of the hour, as annihilation of Karachi, the economic capital of the country, was like annihilating the economy of Pakistan. Khosa said that Karachi was the city of lights and its lights must be restored at any cost. Urging all the political parties to shun their differences and work together for improving the lot of the masses, he said the biggest gift for Pakistanis would be peace in Karachi. He urged the civil society, media and political parties to unite for peace in the economic hub of Pakistan. The governor said that the Pakistani people had strong willpower and if they became united no one could defeat them in the war against terrorism. Earlier, condoling with Khan, Kundi expressed sorrow over the sad demise of the general secretary’s mother who passed away on Sunday. He prayed to God to grant them patience to bear with the irreparable loss. staff report
