ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) is ready to facilitate the Supreme Court, which will hear the suo motu case regarding the worsening law and order situation and target killings in Karachi today (Friday). MQM central leaders Farooq Sattar and Haider Rizvi on Thursday met with SC Registrar Dr Faqir Hussain at the Supreme Court building and told him that their party would extend all-out support to the court by providing reference material and other information. The federal government is also considering presenting its viewpoint regarding the matter as well. A senior official revealed to Daily Times that former federal law minister Babar Awan could appear on behalf of the federation. He said that Babar had met with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Attorney General of Pakistan Maulvi Anwarul Haq in this regard. Talking to reporters after the meeting with SC registrar, MQM leader Farooq Sattar said they had discussed different options with the Registrar to become party and help the court over the Karachi situation. He said the party would consult its legal experts on the issue and furnish evidences in the court. He said that Karachi was the financial hub of the country, but violence had disrupted the economic activities, therefore, its peace was very important.
