Pakistan summons Afghan envoy to protest against attacks

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan lodged a protest with the Afghan government on Saturday over attacks from Kunar and Nooristan on seven Pakistani check posts in Chitral earlier on Saturday in which 25 security personnel were slain. The Afghan Charge d’Affairs was called in at the Foreign Ministry and a protest was lodged through him over the attacks and the necessity of establishing peace and tranquility in the border region and effectively dealing with terrorists was conveyed to him, a foreign office statement issued on Saturday said. The statement added that it was Pakistan’s expectation that ISAF and the Afghan National Army would take effective measures to prevent such incursions by terrorists from safe havens across the border in Kunar and Nooristan and would enhance border security. app
