Protest outside KESC head office turns violent

KARACHI: The CBA labour union protested outside KESC’s head office against the non-payment of salaries, Geo News reported. Seven people were injured when KESC guards allegedly opened fire to disperse the protestors.

According to CBA chairman Akhlaq Ahmed, workers were peacefully protesting outside the KESC head office demanding their four months salaries, when security guards opened fire at the demonstrators injuring seven of them. This sparked a mighty wave of agitation, he added.

Angry KESC workers hurled stones at the police deployed to disperse them. They tried to set a police truck and vehicles of the power supply company on fire.

On the other hand KESC spokesman said that the labour union attacked the head office and
they were the ones who started shooting at the building, not company guards.
