ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, on Monday termed the serious allegations of Dr Zulifqar Mirza a charge sheet against the government along with the MQM, which was specifically targeted by a key leader of PPP in Sindh and demanded that a judicial commission look into these allegations.
Calling Mirza a responsible government leader, Nisar said that his disclosures had exposed the government before the nation, adding that he felt that the time had come for the truth to be told.
“The entire nation wants a reply from the government over the serious allegations made by Mirza because it was not a political statement, every word being stated under oath of the holy Quran. This can’t be overlooked,” the PML-N leader said.
Nisar demanded that a session in the National Assembly be convened immediately after Eid to discuss the Karachi law and order situation and also urged the government to respond to the allegations made by Mirza.
He also called for the presentation of all reports of national security and intelligence institutions regarding Karachi in parliament. He emphasised the tabling of reports of those institutions referred to by Dr Mirza in his press conference.
He blamed the current rulers for defaming the political and democratic culture and said that this was leading towards political instability in the country.
Nisar said that the people of Karachi were paying a heavy price in the fighting between political parties and demanded that immediate steps be taken to improve the security situation.
He stated that government would not be let off in the backdrop of new developments and that it would have to tell the truth by shedding its curtain of hypocrisy and falsehood.
Meanwhile, PML-N also submitted a requisition in the National Assembly on Monday to convene a special session of the assembly to discuss the Karachi situation.
