PML-N will take to streets if elections delayed: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday declared that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would take to streets if the government tried to give extension to current assemblies.

Talking to reporters, the opposition leader said that rulers are inviting political forces to the roundtable conference rather than resolving the problems of the people, which according to him was akin to ridiculing the people and the country. On consultations with the government on a caretaker set up, Nisar said that there was not need to consult with the government on the issue. He said the PML-N would start talks with other opposition parties in the next few days in this regard. Coming down hard on President Asif Zardari for claiming to win the next general elections, the opposition leader said that the president’s claims showed how ignorant he [president] was about the problems confronting the country. The PML-N lawmaker said the people would vote against Zardari and make an example of the PPP-led government. staff report
