Balochistan issue: Govt presents six-point formula
ISLAMABAD: The Senate continued discussing the Balochistan law and order situation today during which Senator Farhatullah Babar presented six-point formula before the House to tackle the issue, Geo News reported.
The members of Awami National Party (ANP) demanded that the government should talk to the disgruntled Baloch leaders and should stop blaming involvement of foreign elements.
Today, the House met under the chair of Deputy Chairman Sabir Baloch. As the proceedings began, the ANP and JUI-F senators once again protested against the absence of Interior Minister Rehman Malik who came up after 15 minutes.
Senator Zahid Khan said PM Raja has never attended a single session since he assumed his duties as a prime minister.
The six points of the Balochistan formula include; handing over the police powers to the security agencies with a vigilant check over it, LEAs powers to pick up people be abolished, anti-terrorism act should be passed soon, international convention on forced disappearances be adopted and the senior leaders as well as young Baloch leaders be invited for talks.
Farhatullah Babar informed the House that a UN mission on forced disappearances is also due next month to discuss the issue.
