Passport scandal: FIA dismisses British report
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has dismissed the report by the British Home Department which holds Pakistani officials responsible in connection with the Olympic visa/passport scandal.
The FIA claimed that the problem was not with Pakistan but with the British system. According to sources, the FIA informed the British Immigration Department about details of the passport scandal.
Officials dismissed the British Home Department report which stated that Pakistan’s machine readable system was inefficient. According to the FIA, Muhammad Ali Asad and Asad Ali are two separate individuals.
Muhammad Ali Asad travelled to Britain on a fake British passport.
FIA officials said that Pakistan’s machine readable system was working correctly and it was the British system which was faulty.
