ISI chief returns from US visit

ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam returned to Pakistan on Sunday after his visit to Washington. The ISI chief would submit a detailed report of his US trip to Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, sources said. Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam, the new head of the ISI agency, was on his first visit to Washington.

The ISI chief held a meeting on Thursday with Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director David Petraeus and held “substantive, professional and productive” talks. Zaheer had an important policy meeting with President Barack Obama’s Special Coordinator for Afghanistan and Pakistan Lt Gen Douglas E Lute, at the State Department on Thursday.
