Nationalists reject Malik’s statement on Balochistan
* Senator Bizenjo says interior minister’s comments irresponsible and baseless

ISLAMABAD: Baloch nationalists on Monday strongly reacted to Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s statement that the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and foreign agencies were behind Balochistan unrest.
Through a statement, Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) President Akhtar Mengal blamed security agencies, the Frontier Corps (FC) and establishment for ‘rotten’ law and order in the province. Mengal said Malik blamed Baloch organisations for Balochistan unrest, but the interior minister trembled in naming the organisations which were working under the supervision of FC and security forces.
On the other hand, Baloch Students Organisation (BSO-Pajjar) former chairman Aleem Raz Baloch told Daily Times as many as 400 bullet-riddled bodies had been recovered from different areas of Balochistan. He also said thousands of people were still missing, adding that these crimes were not committed by India or Afghanistan, but “our own security forces”.
Senator Hasil Khan Bizenjo said, “The interior minister’s comments are irresponsible and baseless.”
Talking to Daily Times, BSO Central Committee Member Muhammad Jan Baloch showed surprise over the interior minister’s statement, adding that Khuzdar and Turbat were considered most restive areas today which were hundreds of kilometres away from Iranian and Afghan borders.
“If a person is whisked away in Chaman or on Iranian border it can be assumed that he might be the victim of foreign perpetrators, but it is beyond belief to blame foreign agencies for abduction of Baloch workers in Turbat and Khuzdar which are entirely controlled by the FC,” said Jan.
A father of a Baloch deceased youth, Qadeer Baloch, accused security forces for unrest in Balochistan, saying that intelligence agencies were involved in killings and abductions of the Baloch. Qadeer said the interior minister should make public evidence against Indian involvement in Balochistan if he had any. He accused security forces for killing his son, Jalil Reiki.
Meanwhile, the Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) leadership strongly rejected Indian involvement in Balochistan. They said if the interior minister wanted to bring peace to Balochistan he should stop blaming foreign agencies. They also said role of intelligence agencies should be ended and killers of Nawab Akbar Bugti should be brought to justice.
Separately, addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club BNP Acting President Dr Jahanzeb Jamaldini strongly rejected Malik’s allegations regarding foreign involvement in Balochistan, saying that the PPP government had formed a committee to hide facts from the United Nations Fact Finding Machinery (UNFFM). The UNFFM is likely to visit the restive province next month. “If Rehman Malik has evidence of training camps of Baloch in Afghanistan, he should public them,” he said.
Referring to dialogue to settle down the issue, the BNP leader said that first of all the military offensive should be stopped, missing persons should be recovered and elements involved in killings and abductions should be brought to justice.
