Discos involved in inflated bills: Secretary Water & Power

ISLAMABAD: Secretary Water and Power Zaffar Mehmood has accepted before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that power distribution companies (Discos) were involved in distributing inflated bills, Geo News reported.

He said this while briefing the meeting of PAC which was held under the chair of Nadeem Afzal.

The meeting sought a reply on disbanding Discos and restoring the old system of WAPDA House. The PAC also deliberated on audit of ministry of water and power.

The secretary said the annual loss in the energy sector is Rs.104 billion and that the ministry has no record of Discos budget.

He said the government cannot afford complete subsidy of Rs.280 due to financial crises. The industrial sector is getting uninterrupted electricity as they pay.
