Recovering looted money can end load shedding: PML-N
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Wednesday said that load shedding in the country could be ended by recovering the money lost due to corruption in Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The rulers had never made a serious effort to overcome the problem of load shedding and corrective measures had not been taken to end the chronic problem of circular debt in the power sector, PML-N Central Information Secretary Mushahiddulah Khan said. He said the unjust attitude with Punjab in distribution of electricity was even pointed out by the Lahore High Court (LHC) when it said that the province was being discriminated against. The PML-N leader said that load shedding had crippled the national economy, which had resulted in unemployment, poverty and inflation. He also castigated the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government for not following the orders of the apex court, saying that whenever a decision had come against them, they started making hue and cry. He said there were double standards in the conduct of PPP as on the one hand they talked about independence of judiciary and on the other they devised new tactics to hide their corruption and to prolong their stay in the power. “Despite the fast-approaching election, the party is busy looting the national wealth and claiming victory in the next general election,” he added. staff report
