Resolution of problems lies in democracy: PM
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Tuesday said that the resolution of all the problems of Pakistan lies in democracy and the country's survival hinges on it, Geo News reported.
Addressing a gathering for the Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony at Convention Centre here, the prime minister said that the Balochistan issue was the offshoot of the wrong policies of the previous governments.
He said that the government was striving for the resolution of Balochistan issue amicably.
PM Pervaiz Ashraf said that the people of Balochistan are patriots, their grievances would be addressed. He said that Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan package was introduced to end the sense of deprivation among the Baloch.
The prime minister said that he has ordered for immediate release of Rs6 billion for Kachchi Canal, while Ra1 billion has been allocated for Dera Bugti’s homeless. He said he wanted that all the political parties of Balochistan participate in the upcoming elections
The prime minister said that southern Punjab was ignored in the past. He said that the dream of a Saraiki province would soon be translated into a reality.
PM Pervaiz Ashraf said that the opposition was being taken into confidence for ensuring transparency in the upcoming elections. He said that he believed in holding talks with the opposition for the setting up of a caretaker government and other national issues of importance.
The prime minister said that sincere efforts were afoot for overcoming the energy crisis. The work for generating electricity from coal was underway in full swing. He said that criminal negligence was committed in neglecting the Thar coal in past.
PM Pervaiz Ashraf said that his government considered drone attacks against the sovereignty of the country. He said that it has been made clear to the US that no compromise would be made on the security and sovereignty of the country.
The prime minister said that the ban on Nato supplies feared to have affected the war on terrorism. He said that the terrorists would soon be overpowered. He paid tributes to the Pak Army sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
PM said that Pakistan wanted friendly ties with India for peace and prosperity in the region.
