Govt won’t increase oil prices ‘as Eid gift’

ISLAMABAD: Dr Asim Hussain, petroleum and natural resources adviser to the prime minister, on Monday announced to keep the oil prices unchanged for the next fortnight of August as “Eid gift”.

In a statement, the adviser said the Petroleum Ministry decided to reject the summary of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) seeking an accumulated increase up to Rs 2 per litre in petroleum, oil and lubricant (POL) products because of Eidul Fitr to provide maximum relief to consumers.

As per announcement of the adviser, POL products would be available at existing prices, petrol Rs 93.57 per litre, high octane blending component (HOBC) Rs 120.16 per litre, kerosene oil Rs 92.83 per litre, high speed diesel (HSD) Rs 101.79 per litre, light diesel oil (LDO) Rs 90.11 per litre. Jet fuels, including JP-1 Rs 82.36 per litre, JP-4 Rs 74.04 per litre and JP-8 would be available at Rs 82.05 per litre.

Similarly, CNG in Region-1 will be available at Rs 85.67 per kg and in Region-2 at Rs 78.26 per kg. Region-I includes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar and Balochistan and Region-II includes Punjab and Sindh.

The ministry has also decided that during Eid holidays, entire country would also be exempted from CNG load shedding and gas will be available for smooth transportation of consumers.
