Japan grants 683 million yen to Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Furthering economic cooperation with Pakistan, the government of Japan on Monday extended a grant of 683 million yen to the government of Pakistan. The official notes for the grant were exchanged at the Economic Affairs Division. Economic Affairs Division Secretary Javed Iqbal and Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Hiroshi Oe signed the exchange of notes on behalf of the respective governments. This grant will be utilised for the upgrade of Mechanical System for Sewerage & Drainage in Faisalabad. The project is aimed at helping climate change and environmental improvement and strengthening the capacity of the city administration to avoid damages and the after-effects of monsoon season. At the same occasion, a grant agreement was also been signed between Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) chief representative Takatoshi Nishikata and Economic Affairs Division Joint Secretary (Japan) Kazim Niaz. This grant is mutually beneficial for both countries and will strengthen Pak-Japan relations. staff report
