55 Indian fishermen released from Malir Jail

KARACHI: Sindh government released 55 Indian fishermen including three juveniles from Malir District Jail on Wednesday morning.

The released prisoners were seen off by Provincial Minister for Law & Prisons Ayaz Soomro, secretary of prisons’ department Ali Hassan Brohi and other officials at around 10.00am. The Indians left for Lahore in a bus from where they will be handed over to Indian authorities at Wagha border on Thursday.

Earlier, Sindh government had released 311 Indian fishermen including 21 juvenile prisoners lodged in Karachi jails on June 27 last.

The 21 juvenile prisoners were lodged in Youthful Offenders’ School adjacent to Karachi Central Jail while others were kept in District Jail Malir.

After the release of 311 prisoners, the number of Indian prisoners in Malir jail was 127. With release of 55 prisoners there would be only 72 Indians behind awaiting release.
