Malik says plan to destabilize Pakistan will be foiled
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik says "our enemies prepared a plan to destabilize Pakistan but it would be foiled through coordinated efforts of agencies concerned and support of people."
Talking to newsmen here Saturday evening‚ he said "a conspiracy was hatched against the solidarity of Pakistan‚ its people and armed forces. “I had already informed the nation about blueprint of plan and people saw this unfolding during last few days. Terrorist attack at Kamra air base‚ killing passengers at Babusar Top Pass and bomb blast in Karachi were part of conspiracy to demoralize people of Pakistan and destabilize the country."
Answering a question, Minister said he had shared information with IGs Police of the provinces and alerted IG Police Islamabad as a result of which many likely incidents of terrorism have been averted. He said elaborate and effective security plan is in place for Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure maintenance of peace. Police and Rangers personnel would be deployed at important places‚ security of mosques beefed up and monitoring by helicopters will also be undertaken.
He said as a result of steps taken by the government, situation in Balochistan is improving and people are fully aware of who is working against interests of Pakistan.
Replying to another question, Rehman Malik said nine attackers of Kamra air base have been identified." All of them are Pakistanis and authorities have complete details about their activities and links.
Pakistan Air Force, Punjab Police and FIA are investigating the terrorist attack," he added.
He said Interior Ministry has not issued any license to any private detective agency in Karachi. "If someone was working illegally then he will be sent behind the bars." (PPI)
