PPP govt trying to weed out terrorism, says Kaira

Staff Report

LAHORE: Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira on Saturday said the Pakistan People’s Party-led government inherited terrorism from former military ruler Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf and they were trying to curb it.
Addressing a seminar, ‘Terrorism in Pakistan’, at a school, he said further terrorists were unable to enter in the Kamra Airbase’s hangers because the government had taken special security measures there.
Kaira also said the terrorists attacked the base when the nation was busy in Shab-e- Qadr prayers.
He said, “I believe that the attackers were shown sweet dreams about heaven but everyone believes that attackers must be the part of hell.”
Acknowledging the services of security personnel, he said that no doubt they fought bravely and lowered down the attack, adding, “...the war did not end here. We still have to fight at several battles and success is necessary for [the] country’s safety.”
He urged politicians and institutions to join hands for the future of Pakistan, adding that the Pakistan Army needed the nation’s support to flush out terrorists. School head Adeeb Jawdani also spoke on the occasion.
