Democracy only cure to all ills

* PM says PPP won't compromise on principles

* Asks workers to get ready 'as polls are not far away'

GUJAR KHAN: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said all problems and challenges faced by the country could be resolved through democracy and democratic system.

Addressing a public gathering in his hometown on Tuesday, the premier said, "Democracy, democracy and more democracy provides solution of every problem. It is the cure of all wounds and ills. Democracy represents the will of Pakistani people."

Rejecting the talk of despondency, Raja said Pakistanis knew how to defend every inch of their country and can even sacrifice their lives for this purpose.

"There is no need of any despondency. No nation is more brave, tolerant, courageous and struggling than Pakistanis. Each one from the brave Pakistani nation knows how to defend every inch of their country and sacrifice their lives for this purpose," the prime minister said.

Raja said, "No power in the world can frighten us, as we are brave people and know how to defend our soil and its integrity."

He referred to the recent terrorist attack at Minhas Airbase in Kamra and paid rich tribute to the country's brave soldiers for eliminating the attacking terrorists.

The prime minister said the government, people and the armed forces were fully cognizant of the defence of their motherland, adding that the people of Pakistan always stood united in difficult times.

"This is not an ordinary nation. Its brave people, men and women, young and old, mothers and sisters, and its armed forces know how to defend Pakistan," he remarked.

Raja gave message of love, harmony, understanding and friendship to all political forces in the country and invited them to stand united for the sake of Pakistan.

"Love and harmony is the need of hour in Pakistan. Hatred has given us nothing in the last 66 years," the premier remarked and called for promoting politics of decency – a politics of manifestoes and programmes and not accusing and abusing each other.

"Let us get together for Islam and Pakistan. Our routes can be different, but our objective is one," he remarked.

The PM said the Pakistan People’s Party leaders sacrificed their lives for democracy but did not compromise on principles.

The PM said the message of President Zardari for PPP workers was that they should prepare for elections, which were not far away. app
