GILGIT: On the directions of Gilgit-Baltistan Deputy Commissioner Arqam Tariq, some offices, business centres, shops and markets have been reopened while all government and private schools would remain closed until further orders.
According to details, the deputy commissioner, owing to the prevailing tensions which gripped the city for a few days now after target killings and Lolosir incident, has ordered that all educational institutes would remain closed, however, offices, shops and trade centres reopened on Thursday.
In order to prevent target killing incidents, the use of motorcycles has also been banned by the Gilgit-Baltistan government for unspecified time.
The deputy commissioner, while talking to media, said that strict security was deployed at markets and business centres so that people could shop without any fear and panic.
However, the shopkeepers and local people were still fearful because of the tense situation in the region.
Meanwhile, the transport system, between Rawalpindi and Skardu, which was halted after the incident, remained suspended for the 8th day.
