PM keen on increase in power generation
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf Saturday directed that entire power chain from generation to distribution in the country must be upgraded and streamlined so that people feel effects of measures taken by government to minimize load-shedding.
He was talking to Water & Power Minister Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar who briefed him on measures being taken to improve power situation in the country. Mukhtar said every possible effort was being made to ensure generation capacity is utilized optimally so that difference between demand and supply of electricity is reduced to minimum.
Prime Minister directed Minister to prioritize contribution of hydel power projects to address growing water and electricity needs. He said equal emphasis should also be laid on distribution system to reduce line loses and electricity theft. (PPI)
