PM's summons: Giani says government, allies not at odds

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani said Sunday that there was no ambiguity between the government and coalition partners over the issue of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf’s summons by the Supreme Court.

Gilani said the decision of Prime Minister Ashraf appearing before the apex court would be made in the larger interest of the constitution, democracy and judiciary.

Meanwhile the government's allies will hold a meeting with President Asif Zardari on Sunday night to deliberate on this issue.

Speaking to Geo News, MQM leader Babar Ghauri and ANP leader Zahid Khan agreed that there should be no confrontation between institutions.

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf was issued a contempt of court notice by the Supreme Court for failing to write the letter to Swiss authorities as ordered under its verdict in the NRO implementation case.
