While talking to the media here today, Irfan Qadir said that the prime minister appeared before the SC, it is his wisdom as he cannot be summoned to the court according to the Constitution.

Irfan Qadir added that Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf did not mention anything pertaining to writing the letter to Swiss authorities when appearing before the Supreme Court.

He said that with his gesture, the prime minister has declared that he will respect the institutions. He further said that it is Constitution that is followed and hoped that it will be followed in future as well.

Qadir said that it is hoped that the matter will be resolved with consultations and understanding.

It is pertinent to mention that the SC has given a period of three weeks to the Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in the show-cause notice for contempt of court regarding the implementation of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).

The premier assured the bench that concrete steps would be taken to implement the apex court’s judgment directing the government to write the letter to the Swiss authorities.

The Supreme Court, on August 8, issued a contempt notice to Prime Minister Ashraf for not implementing its order of writing a letter to the Swiss authorities to reopen a money-laundering case against President Zardari.
