SC reserves verdict in Arsalan Iftikhar case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Tuesday heard the case pertaining to the review petition filed by Arsalan Iftikhar and reserved the verdict, Geo News reported.

The petition had challenged the June 14 Supreme Court order regarding the controversy relating to allegations of a business deal worth Rs342 million between Arsalan Iftikhar and real estate tycoon Malik Riaz.

A two-judge bench comprising Justice Jawwad Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif heard the review petition challenging the court’s order.

Arsalan’s counsel Advocate Sardar Ishaq concluded his arguments today. During the hearing, he presented proof of contacts between Attorney General Irfan Qadir and Malik Riaz. He said that his client had no faith in the probe carried out by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as it has played a biased role in the case.

In his counter arguments, Zahid Bukhari who is representing Malik Riaz said that the evidences do not prove NAB’s prejudice.

Later, the court started dictating the verdict and reserved it.
