PPP tells PA speaker to perform mental check-up on Shahbaz
LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has moved an application before the Punjab Assembly speaker, asking him to set up a medical board to ascertain ‘mental health’ of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Talking to the media outside the Punjab Assembly building on Tuesday, the PPP-backed opposition leader, Raja Riaz, warned if the speaker did not act on opposition’s application they would move the court for the purpose. Raja Riaz claimed that Shahbaz was ‘mentally sick’ and needed a thorough check-up by a special medical board. He said that the opposition would move the Lahore High Court if the speaker would not entertain their application. PPP parliamentary leader in the House Maj (r) Zulfiqar Gondal, deputy parliamentary leader Shaukat Basra and others legislators were present on the occasion. After the opposition leader, the Punjab law minister also spoke to the media and parried the questions about the application, saying the PPP had no sensible person to be appointed as the opposition leader. staff report
