Famed Urdu scholar, writer Farman Fatehpuri passes away
KARACHI: Noted writer, scholar and critic Prof. Dr. Farman Fatehpuri, who passed away here on Saturday, will be laid to rest at Karachi University's graveyard here on Sunday.
His Namaz-e-Janaza will be offered at Masjid Khulafa-e-Rashideen, Block 13-D/1, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, a senior faculty member of the University of Karachi said.
He had served as a Professor Emeritus at the University of Karachi.
The 85-year old Farman Fatehpuri, leaves behind two sons and four daughters to mourn his death.
His son Engr. Syed Abrar Ali, is presently the Registrar at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) and two of his daughters are teaching at the Faculty of Arts, University of Karachi.
During his lifetime, Dr. Farman Fatehpuri, wrote over 50 books on various subjects and topics in Urdu.
Dr. Farman also enjoyed a reputation in Urdu linguistic field.
He had special association with Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and would never miss a function organised in his memory by the University.
Meanwhile, Chancellor SSUET Engr. Adil Usman and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jawaid H. Rizvi have expressed their grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Dr. Farman Fatehpuri.
In condolence messages they paid tributes to the deceased for his contributions toward the promotion of the cause of Urdu and said in the death of Dr. Farman Fatehpuri, the literary world has lost a great writer and author.
They prayed to Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. (APP)
