PTI to work for change in KP

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan visited Peshawar on Friday and met the government machinery, elected representatives of PTI and the allied parties. He also addressed the party workers of PTI. In his address to the party workers, he said that he was grateful to the people of the province in general and the people of Peshawar in particular for the trust they had reposed in him and his party in the last general election. He expressed the hope that they would support PTI in the upcoming by-elections the way they did in the last general election. Addressing the elected representatives of PTI and the allied parties, Imran Khan said that a new local government system would be introduced in the province in the near future. He went on to say that the new system would empower the public at the grassroots level, it would solve the problems of the people at their doorsteps and they would not need to visit the elected representatives to get their problems solved. Imran Khan said that PTI and its allied parties would work together with a focused approach to implement the change agenda in the province. “We will set an example of good governance and corruption free system in the province and a ruthless accountability process will be carried out across the board,” continued Imran Khan. He went on to say that postings and transfers of government employees would only be made on the basis of their performance. Earlier, addressing a meeting of the administrative heads of provincial departments and the high-ups of police, Imran Khan said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be made a model province in terms of good governance with the team work of the government machinery and elected leadership, adding that his team has the ability and the capacity to bring about positive changes and replace the existing system with a new one as promised to the public in the general election. He expressed the hope that positive change in the province would soon be noticed. Imran Khan further said that though the team of PTI was new, it had the resolve to deliver. He also stressed the need to have a national policy against terrorism and militancy. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, senior provincial minister Sirajul Haq, Chief Secretary Arbab Mohammad Shehzad and Inspector General (IG) Police Ehsan Ghani were also present on the occasion. inp
