Pakistan Army takes over Peshawar jail security
PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Army has assumed security responsibilities at the Central Jail Peshawar due to fears of terrorist attack at the detention facility, Geo News reported.
Contingents of the army and police have been deployed to assist the jail security of the Department of Prisons in an outside the prison ahead of Eid to ward off any attack.
Security has also been beefed up for the jails across Khyber Pakhtukhwa following the last week’s brazen militant attack on Dera Ismael Khan’s Central Jail. Over 240 inmates including dozens of hardcore militants were freed in the attack claimed by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP.
