Floods wreak havoc across Pakistan

NAROWAL: Torrential rains which led to floods have wrecked havoc in the Pakistani provinces of Punjab and Balochistan. Due to an increase in the water level of Nullah Dek, 45 villages drowned while the rising water level at Sim Nullah in Naseerabad, Balochistan also resulted in 45 villages being submerged.

The villages affected by the increase in Nullah Dek are located near the Ahmedabad Fort. According to the Irrigation Department, over 36,000 cusecs passed through Nullah Dek overnight. The local administration has closed the Narowal-Pasrur road for traffic.

Electricity supply to several areas has been affected due to water entering grid stations.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), at least 84 people across Pakistan have been killed in floods triggered by Monsoon rains over the past week. Flood waters and rain have destroyed over 2,533 houses and the lives of more than 80,000 people have been affected.
