Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: Speakers at a seminar arranged by the Mission of Unity Stability and Leadership In Muslims (MUSLIM) Institute said that the people who have made sacrifices for Pakistan should be given due respect and remembered.
MUSLIM Institute organised a seminar on ‘27 Ramadan & Pakistan’ on Tuesday.
Foreign diplomats, renowned analysts, professors and students of various universities attended the seminar.
MUSLIM Institute Chairman Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali in his address said that concerns were shown regarding minority rights in Pakistan at the international level. He said the detractors needed to study August 11 speech of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The speech ensured complete rights of minorities.
He further said that the 27th of Ramazan should be celebrated as ‘Pakistan Day’ on a national level.
Former information secretary Ashfaq Gondal said that God accepts prayers on the night of the 27th of Ramazan and we were bestowed with Pakistan on this occasion, which was a result of prayers.
Renowned columnist Rana Abdul Baqi said that in the August 11 speech Jinnah renewed the Meesaq-e-Medina.
Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industries President Islamabad Zafar Bakhtawari commended Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali for promoting the ideology of Pakistan and for strengthening foundation of Pakistan. He said that at the time of formation of Pakistan there was only one shop of belonging to Muslims in the centre of Lahore in Anarkali.
He went on to say that after the formation of Pakistan “we got economic freedom. Today we are facing problems due to the divisions among us. By eliminating linguistic, regional and sectarian distinctions we can strengthen Pakistan.”
He further said, “We have to strengthen Pakistan by promoting brotherhood and love among ourselves.”
Mirratul Arifeen International’s SH Qadri made a presentation on Quaid’s August 11 speech and said that all the points discussed in his speech were in the light of Meesaq-e-Medina.
He said that minority rights and religious freedom are principles taught by Islam. Jinnah wanted an Islamic system in Pakistan in which all the citizens were given equal rights and for this purpose the Meesaq-e-Medina was a role model for him, he added.
He further said that Pakistan is the second Islamic ideological state after Medina and there exist great similarities between the two.
Dr Ataur Rasool Awan said that there is no change possible in the constitution of God described in the holy Quran.
He said to implement the principles of Islam “we needed a state and Iqbal dreamt for such a state.” He went on to say that Jinnah with courage and faith fulfilled this need. He further said, “Our enemies could not destroy us because Pakistan came into being with the help of God.”
Dr Ghulam Akbar Niazi said that freedom was a blessing and to attain it people have given great sacrifices. “To save Pakistan from destruction we must follow the Quran,” he added.
