Fazl links joining govt with acceptance of prioritiesDI KHAN: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam - Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has linked joining the federal government with acceptance of his party priorities.
He said that the approval of recommendations by the Islamic Ideological Council (IIC), holding peace talks with the Taliban, establishment of a peaceful atmosphere in the tribal region and protection of religious seminaries is on the priority list and he would support the federal government after getting assurance from the PML-N leadership on these issues.
He expressed these views while addressing an Iftar dinner hosted by him in honour of local clerics and religious scholars at his ancestral village, Abdul Khel. Gomal University former chief khateeb Maulana Dr Abdul Hakeem Akbari also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
Sharing his remarks the JUI-F chief said that his party would extend full support to the PML-N govt for giving constitutional shape to the recommendations of the IIC. He said that the implementation of recommendations of the JUI-F’s sponsored tribal jirga regarding protection of religious seminaries and establishment of durable peace in the tribal areas were also a priority.
He rejected that the impression that his party would join the federal government for getting ministries, saying that these matters were not discussed with the PML-N leadership.
Fazl said his party did make an effort to form the government in KP and had also approached PML-N in this regard. The JUI-F chief said that he was of the firm opinion that PTI could not run the affairs of the government and referred to the DI Khan jailbreak incident that had exposed the performance of the KP government.
The JUI-F chief said that the Balochistan problem could be addressed by taking all the stakeholders on board. He said that Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat and Tank districts are the stronghold of JUI-F and his party candidates would get overwhelming majority in the by-elections.
He urged the party workers and religious scholars to inform the masses and play an active part for the success of JUI-F candidates in by-elections to be held on August 22. app
