Sindh finalises draft for new local government system
KARACHI: The Sindh Government has finalized draft for new local bodies system and members of provincial cabinet were briefed in this regard during a meeting, sources said Monday.
The sources said that the draft would be presented in the Sindh Assembly while a cabinet committee would hold consultations with other political parties over the new local government system.
The sources added that according to the new draft there would be the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation in the metropolis while divisional headquarters will have district municipal corporations.
According to the draft there would be District Municipal Corporations in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Larkana and Sukkur.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said that local government election would be held on party basis.
