Supreme Court hears Balochistan unrest case
QUETTA: A division bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Athar Saeed began hearing of a suo moto case pertaining to acts of terrorism in Balochistan and its capital Quetta on Thursday.
Balochistan Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh and other officials were also present in the court room.
The chief justice said that families of missing persons had set up camp for their recovery but the issue had not been resolved so far.
He said that there were many evidences against the Frontier Constabulary. The CJ lamented that the situation had aggravated so much that 18 policemen had been killed, a reference to a deadly bomb blast a day before Eid.
The Chief Justice said that 14 people were killed after being pulled out of buses in Bolan after an attack on the Quaid-e-Azman Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s Ziarat Residency.
Nasrullah Baloch, Chairman Baloch Voice for Missing Persons, said that trend of forced disappearances and dumping mutilated bodies was still continuing in the province. He told the apex court that the Supreme Court orders were not implemented regarding missing persons and disappearances
