Malik offers dialogue to Baloch groupsStaff Report
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has called upon Baloch resistance groups and religious parties to come on dialogue table so that the process of reconciliation could be started to put the country and nation on the track of development.
“Fighting against terrorism is not only the responsibility of government and security agencies rather it is responsibility of all political and democratic forces, media, people and all would have to play their due role,” he added.
Chief Minister Balochistan expressed these views while addressing ‘flag hoisting’ ceremony on the eve of Independence Day held at the grassy of the provincial assembly, here on Tuesday.
Chief Secretary Balochistan Babar Yaqoub Fateh Muhammad, IG Police Balochistan Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera, Secretary Home Captain (r) Akbar Hussain Durrani and other high ups were also present on the occasion.
Addressing on the occasion, Dr Malik said the Independence Day had great importance for any nation and 14 August had also great importance for us but unfortunately we were celebrating Independence Day in such an atmosphere where sorrow, grief and terrorism prevailed all around.
Dr Malik said country in general and Balochistan in particular was facing terrorism, poverty, ignorance, unemployment and other difficulties thus in order to steer out the people from all these challenges we would have to exhibit unity and solidarity.
He said, “We are political people and want to resolve the issues through dialogue and through political means. We invite religious parties and Baloch resistance groups to come on dialogue table keeping in view the interest of country and nation and start process of reconciliation.”
He said terrorist elements wanted to hold hostage people and security agencies but on this day we want to assure the people that government would never allow anyone to hold hostage the people. Our law enforcement agencies had rendered their lives while combating terrorism, and all those elements which wanted to paralyze police, Levies, Balochistan Constabulary and other law enforcement agencies, they should remember the government would never let their nefarious designs to be fulfilled.
He said that incumbent government comprise elected representatives of masses as parliamentarians in the previous government were blamed for backing criminal elements and were themselves involved in such activities.
He said they did not believe in lip-services rather wanted to take practical steps, adding all out efforts would be made for bringing peace and stability and promote brotherhood in the province.
Referring to missing persons’ issue, CM said the incidents of missing persons and recovery of decomposed dead bodies though had not stopped completely but reduced to some extent.
“We have started rehabilitation of displaced Bugti families and want cooperation of people,” he said, adding they knew that they might not brought about revolution within two months but they were striving hard day and night for the bright future of people to improve their living standard and ensure basic facilities to them.
