ECP dismisses plea to stop PM from addressing nation

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has dismissed a petition seeking to stop the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from addressing the nation tomorrow (Monday).

The petition was filed by Pakistan People’s Party leader Sajida Mir in which she contented that the Prime Minister’s address could influence the by-elections scheduled to be held on August 22 across the country.

Rejecting the plea, the ECP said that Nawaz Sharif will address the nation as a Prime Minister of Pakistan and not as his party’s chief.
